Before you leave town on summer vacation, don't forget to find someone to water your plot! If you need help, just ask on the listserv - someone is usually happy to step up. Just be sure to pay it back or pay it forward by volunteering for watering duty yourself when you get home! wood chip alert! Are you a kitchen compost member (or would you like to be)? We'll be turning the compost in this bin this Saturday morning at 9 - come on out to help or to learn more! The June volunteer work day is upon us! Come on out, Saturday 6/13 at 9 am - help out with some community maintenance tasks, then relax with a cold drink! Recently, researchers from the National Zoo visited us as part of a project looking into how gardens may help sustain breeding bird populations. You can help by keeping an eye out for and reporting banded birds! A happy bee in the Celebration Garden, planted last year in honor of our 50th anniversary! Should be a great weekend for gardening - which is good news, because as of June 1, this Monday, our Rules Committee will want to see that your plot has officially been planted (that means things are growing in at least half the space you have). So if you're behind, the time is now to pick up some seedlings and get them in the dirt! After all the rain in recent days, how does a dry, sunny, mild spell strike you? The weather may be less than summery this weekend, but it's still wonderful to welcome a new season!
