Fifty years ago this spring, the Newark Street Community Garden began its first season, on four acres of land strewn with rubble from old Navy buildings, heavy clay soil, and no running water. It’s time to celebrate the incredible spirit of community that has brought — and held — us together. On Saturday, May 31, starting at 1 pm, we will have a grand ceremony with music and food, special guests, and honored longtime gardeners. Please join us for the celebration, and if you’d like to volunteer to help, contact Debby at membership@newarkstreetcommunitygarden.org.
